I believe this is my first "snow" rendering so your opinion really counts. I'd love to know what you think about it.

I would also like to make it bold and italic that you do NOT need any sort of experience with any of this to comment on it, although you maybe don't know how to create an image like this, I don't want you to think that you cannot give criticism :)

So please, feel free to tell me what you think when you see this picture :)

I like the terrain, but the snow seems more like Sand. Have you tried playing around with the highlights on the material? Also, is it 2 separate material layers? Or did you mix the two together?

I love the image with the billowing clouds rolling over the cliff tops a spectacular view.

Thank you RealTimeBrush  I'm glad you like it. I was hoping to make a avalanche but I couldn't do it so I used clouds, it didn't turn out as I was hoping but nonetheless, I'm glad you like it.

Critique wanted? :D

I'd crop it a little bit more, because I think that snow on the left is too close to the camera and does not show enough details. Depending on the scale I think that ridged perlin noise (footsteps or flowing of snow) or inverse ridged perlin (more cauliflower like) might be nice in that area.

Snow in distance looks great! That distinction between smoothly flowing where thicker and bumps where snow is thinner. I don't know Vue, but I'm wondering if it is a certain displacement shader or kind of noise for terrain? or simply if you used two terrains overlapped? whatever, but it gave really good effect

I really like clouds shape and colour, but with current thickness and in current locations they only look like you wanted to hide colour of the sky or mountain tops :giggle:

Greetings mate!
I totally agree with you, the snow on the left side (the whole left side in my opinion) looks a bit off. The details are too low and the scale is too low considering the landscape size, it needs a different bump for sure.

This scene has a few terrains overlapping each other but they aren't visible because of the clouds, orignally I didn't add them so low but I decided to do it anyways because I wanted to give it this, sort of unrealistic look to it, I wanted it to be a little "Rough" you know? Like a massive storm is coming :)

These clouds are VERY thick yes! You can't see through them haha, but the reason I added them so heavily is because I tried to make it look like some sort of snow storm which you can't really see through. I'm not certain how to make a snow-storm or a snow-lavine (spelled?), so I just added clouds instead and thought I could use them as the effect :)

And thank you for the reply/critique! :D

I could do a snow-storm in Terragen 2, but Vue is completely beyond my understanding :(
